Botulinum toxin type A is an injectable works by relaxing specific muscles under the skin in order to treat facial wrinkles, improve facial symmetry and proportion and reduce bulky muscles such as the masseter which is cause by repeated contractions of the facial muscles.

Botulinum Toxin takes up to 14 days to kick in and usually last 3-4 months and possibly longer depending on clients. It is also common for clients that have treatment first time may not last as long initially but may last longer after the second treatment.

You may notice results right away depending on the product used and the areas treated. Some clients report mild bruising or swelling but these effects are temporary and will go away in the following days. Slight headaches may occur, these tend to be mild and settled with paracetemol, if needed. Rare side effects include temporary heaviness of the eyebrows or eyelids. These tend to improve within a few weeks.

Men and women can receive botulinum toxin treatments. Those who should not receive this treatment are: 

• Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding

• Those who have a neurological disease

• Individuals who have an allergy to albumin 

• Individuals who have infections, skin conditions or weakness in the area being treated
